FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

General

Why can't I get a chemical peel at my first appointment.

First, you have to understand what a chemical peel is. In essence, an acid is applied to your skin in order to speed up the turnover rate of your skin cells. If this is attempted without being sure that the skin is healthy enough to withstand this application, you become prone adverse effects, such as chemical burns, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, etc. To ensure the safety of your skin, it will be prepped a minimum of 2-4 weeks, with products that will progressively help it acclimate to the use of such highly ative ingredients as those available in chemical peels.

Cleansers

I use the Glycolic Cleanser 2 - 3 times a week and my skin feels tight. Is this normal?

Yes, this is normal. The cleanser is breaking down everything. Try hydrating afterwards with the Cucumber Hydrating Toner and Ageless Skin Hydrating Serum.

Should teenagers use the Glycolic Cleanser?

Probably not, since a teenager's skin already sheds rapidly. Try using the Raspberry Refinig Cleanser first.

The Pomegranate Cleanser doesn't remove my make-up. Should it?

The Pomegranate Cleanser does not have a foaming agent. Masssage the cleanser into the skin and remove with a warm, wet washcloth. This will remove oil, make-up, and dirt, leaving the skin feeling very soft and clean.

I only want one cleanser; what would be most effective on a daily basis?

As long as your skin is not too dry, the Raspberry Refining Cleanser may be used twice a day. Consult with your Skin Specialist prior to making any changes to your regimen.

Exfoliants

I'm using the Glycolic/Retinol Pads twice a day to fade pigment, and my skin feels dry. What should I do?

Consult with your Skin Specialist for a specialized consultation.

What exfoliation is appropriate for pregnant women?

The Raspberry Refining Scrub and Beta-Carotene/Papain Renewal Serum are a perfect pair for pregnant women because they are mild and contain ingredients that are safe for both pregnant and lactating women.

I would like to use a mask; is there one available?

Yes, the Retinol 2% Scrub/Mask can also be used as a mask. Leave it on for 10 minutes, twice a week.

What will help with cystic acne?

The Blemish Spot Treatment. It's not going to heal the acne; however, if you begin using the serum as soon as you feel the cysts forming, the Spot Treatment can keep them at bay so they never come to the surface.

Can all the serums be applied to the eye area?

All of the serums are safe for the eye area; however, some people's eyes can be sensitive to the Vitamin C/Green Tea Serum. If you become flaky around the eye area due to the Vitamin C/Green Tea Serum, avoid that area in the future.

What is the best anti-aging serum?

Vitamin C/Green Tea Serum contains Vitamins C and E and will fight free radicals and slow the oxidation process. It will help stimulate collagen and minimize irregular pigmentation.

What moisturizer should I use for sensitive skin?

You can try either the Acai Berry Moisturizer or the Cacteen Balancing Moisturizer, depending on whether you need something heavier (Acai Berry) or lighter (Cacteen Balancing).

Should I change moisturizers seasonally?

Yes! Generally, our skin is drier in the Winter and oilier in the Summer. Adjust your moisturizer in the Autumn and Spring.

My skin is a little on the oily side. Can I use the Sheer Protection SPF 30?

Absolutely. Use the SPF 30 in lieu of your Light Aloe Moisturizer during the day.

Which moisturizer is appropriate for acneic skin?

Light Aloe Moisturizer, Ageless Skin Moisturizer, or Cacteen Balancing Moisturizer.

Which moisturizer is recommended for cold, dry climates and very dry skin?
